CEE Investments has positioned itself via a Thematic Value Driven Fund to take advantage of four global mega trends which are converging in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region: Technology & Digitisation, Energy & Climate, Deglobalisation, and Ukraine Rebuild. Exposure to individual themes is also available via separate Sub-Funds. CEE Investments' specialist capabilities stem from our teams significant professional and cultural experience in CEE Region accumulated over decades.
TECHNOLOGY & DIGITISATION
Technology and digital transformation are vital elements of today’s corporate strategic missions. CEE region has a high level of Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering graduates as a percentage of total graduates which has attracted major investments into the region from IT giants such as Google, Microsoft or IBM. Poland alone is becoming a technology hub in-its-own-right with over 1,800 business service centres employing 435,300 people of which 40.7% deal with Information Technology. CEE Investments leverages this technological revolution via our strategic investments.
ENERGY & CLIMATE
The European Green Deal (EGD) is aiming to achieve EU climate neutrality by 2050. CEE region (and Poland specifically) which for years has been characterised by fossil fuels (especially coal) extraction and high greenhouse gas emission industrial activities, continues to be recipients of significant EU funding (such as Just Transition Fund) as they diversify and modernise local economies and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on the local labour market.
DEGLOBALISATION
The COVID aftermath together with geopolitical tensions and other deglobalising forces are decoupling and de-risking global supply chains. CEE region has seen significant investment from global multinationals setting up their manufacturing and supply hubs. This trend will only accelerate as CEE region retains its labour arbitrage advantage and has a significant consumer base of its own (150+ million including Ukraine). CEE Investments makes a range of strategic investments in line with this trend, focusing on performance, growth, security and ESG factors.
UKRAINE REBUILD & NEW MARSHALL PLAN
According to recent UN Development Programme, Ukraine requires in excess of US$ 486 billion to rebuild and recover from the Russian invasion. We make strategic investments in CEE companies within the building materials and construction sector together with energy security initiatives, synergistic enterprises, and supporting supply chain participants. We are in a prime position to take immediate advantage of this massive reconstruction effort with our value driven thematic fund.
